Stress Reliever

Today's post is gonna be a little bit different than the normal 'fashion/beauty' posts.. and I've decided that I'll start doing these a few times a week. But, you know what is a good stress reliever? God is a good stress reliever.

In I Peter 5:7 it says Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

How amazing is that?

In today's world... there is so much to take in each day. We've gone from living in the moment, to the black hole of social media. Now, while social media can be great, it can also be detrimental to someones health.

I can't tell you how many times I've had friends post a photo... and then take it down because "I didn't get enough likes."

Let's define the word real quick:

Anxiety: a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

The "anxiety" levels in this world have become so insanely high because we are all worried about everyone else and what they are doing. Think about it.. you scroll through Facebook, then Instagram, maybe Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest and so on.. and as soon as your done, you probably sit your phone down for 3.5 seconds and then start back on Facebook.

It's an endless unhealthy cycle of comparing yourself to so many other people who are running a different race than you.

In track & field, lines separate each of the runners because they have their own lane. They are taught to keep their eyes faced forward and to never look back. The occasional side glance is inevitable to make sure you're on pace to be in the lead.. but think about that same concept in our lives.

The second we start looking into another persons lane... we risk the chance to trip and fall. We risk the chance of getting anxiety because we're worried that our lives might not be like so-and-so's life on Instagram. That perfect picture of them smiling with a brand new car they just got... But, think about the hard work it took for them to get to that car. Do you think they are going to Instagram the photo of eating that bowl of Top Ramen every meal because they couldn't afford to eat out so they could afford that car? Or the 50 hour work weeks where they ended up sick and tired after working so hard to get that car? No.

Instagram and social media are great ways to show off all of the GOOD in life. But, remember every photo.. every post.. has a story.. a background that you may not understand or ever get to know.

So, stop worrying about everyone else's race... stay in your lane and run your own race. Cast all your anxiety on the Lord and trust in Him.. to know that He will get you to your own finish line exactly when you're supposed to.

Blessings,

Brooke Ashley Taylor
